ಸುಂದರಕಾಂಡ.
ಅಥ ಅಷ್ಟಮಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ

ಸ ತಸ್ಯ ಮಧ್ಯೇ ಭವನಸ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥಿತಮ್ ಮಹದ್ವಿಮಾನಂ ಮಣಿವಜ್ರಚಿತ್ರಿತಮ್|
ಪ್ರತಪ್ತ ಜಂಬೂನದಜಾಲಕೃತ್ರಿಮಮ್ ದದರ್ಶ ವೀರಃ ಪವನಾತ್ಮಜಃ ಕಪಿಃ||1||

ಸ|| ವೀರಃ ಪವನಾತ್ಮಜಃ ಕಪಿಃ ಭವನಸ್ಯ ತಸ್ಯ ಮಧ್ಯೇ ಸಂಸ್ಥಿತಂಮಹತ್ ವ್ಮಾನಂ ದದರ್ಶ| ತತ್ ವಿಮಾನಂ ಮಣಿವಜ್ರಚಿತ್ರಿತಂ ಜಮ್ಬೂನದಜಾಲಕೃತ್ರಿಮಮ್ ಅಪಿ (ಅಸ್ತಿ)|

That mighty son of wind god Vayu saw the great aerial car stationed in the middle of that palace. The aerial car was rendered beautiful with gems and diamonds and was adorned with latticed windows of gold.

ತದಪ್ರಮೇಯಾಪ್ರತಿಕಾರಕೃತ್ರಿಮಮ್ ಕೃತಂ ಸ್ವಯಂ ಸಾಧ್ವಿತಿ ವಿಶ್ವಕರ್ಮಣಾ|
ದಿವಂ ಗತಂ ವಾಯುಪಥಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಟಿತಮ್ ವ್ಯರಾಜತಾssದಿತ್ಯ ಪಥಸ್ಯ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮವತ್|| 2||

ಸ|| ತತ್ ಅಪ್ರಮೇಯ ಅಪ್ರತೀಕಾರಕೃತ್ರಿಮಮ್ (ವಿಮಾನಂ ) ಸ್ವಯಂ ವಿಶ್ವಕರ್ಮಣಾ ಸಾಧು ಕೃತಂ ಇತಿ |(ತತ್ ವಿಮಾನಂ) ದಿವಂ ಗತಂ ವಾಯು ಪಥೇ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತಮ್ ಆದಿತ್ಯ ಪಥಸ್ಯ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮವತ್ ವ್ಯರಾಜತ||

That aerial car with images of incomparable beauty and immeasurable skill was built by Viswakarma ( the divine architect) himself. That aerial car which was placed in the aerial path in the orbit of Sun shone like a beacon light.

ನತತ್ರ ಕಿಂಚಿ ನ್ನಕೃತಂ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನತೋ ನ ತತ್ರಕಿಂಚಿನ್ನ ಮಹಾರ್ಹರತ್ನವತ್|
ನ ತೇ ವಿಶೇಷಾ ನಿಯತಾ ಸ್ಸುರೇಷ್ವಪಿ ನ ತತ್ರ ಕಿಂಚಿನ್ನ ಮಹಾವಿಶೇಷವತ್|| 3||

ಸ|| ತತ್ರ ಕಿಂಚಿದಪಿ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನತಃ ನ ಕೃತಂ ನಾಸ್ತಿ| ತತ್ರ ನ ಮಹರ್ಹರತ್ನವತ್ ಕಿಂಚಿದಪಿ ನಾಸ್ತಿ| ತೇ ವಿಶೇಷಾಃ ಸುರೇಷ್ವಪಿ ನ ನಿಯತಾಃ | ತತ್ರ ನ ಮಹಾವಿಶೇಷವತ್ ಕಿಂಚ್ದಪಿ ನಾಸ್ತಿ|

There was nothing in that chariot that was executed without special care and effort. There was nothing in that that was not made with costly gems. Those unique things were not available even to gods. There is nothing in that which was not unique.

ತಪಸ್ಸಮಾಧಾನಪರಾಕ್ರಮಾರ್ಜಿತಮ್ ಮನಸ್ಸಮಾಧಾನವಿಚಾರಚಾರಿಣಮ್|
ಅನೇಕಸಂಸ್ಥಾನ ವಿಶೇಷನಿರ್ಮಿತಮ್ ತತಸ್ತತಸ್ತುಲ್ಯ ವಿಶೇಷದರ್ಶನಮ್|| 4||

ಸ|| ತತ್ ವಿಮಾನಂ ತಪಃ ಸಮಾಧಾನಪರಾಕ್ರಮಾರ್ಜಿತಮ್| ತತ್ ವಿಮಾನಂ ಮನಃ ಸಮಾಧಾನವಿಚಾರ ಚಾರಿಣಮ್| ತತ್ ವಿಮಾನಂ ಅನೇಕ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನ ವಿಶೇಷನಿರ್ಮಿತಮ್ | ತತಃ ತತಃ ತುಲ್ಯವಿಶೇಷ ದರ್ಶನಮ್||

That aerial car was acquired through special efforts of penance and prowess. It can go to desired places even by a thought (of its master). It is built with many special seats. It is of wonderful appearance at all places.

ವಿಶೇಷಮಾಲಾಂಬ್ಯ ವಿಶೇಷಸಂಸ್ಥಿತಮ್ ವಿಚಿತ್ರಕೂಟಂ ಬಹುಕೂಟಮಂಡಿತಮ್|
ಮನೋಭಿರಾಮಂ ಶರದಿಂದು ನಿರ್ಮಲಮ್ ವಿಚಿತ್ರಕೂಟಂ ಶಿಖರಂ ಗಿರೇರ್ಯಥಾ ||5||

ಸ|| ತತ್ ವಿಮಾನಂ ವಿಶೇಷಂ ಆಲಂಬ್ಯವಿಶೇಷ ಸಂಸ್ಥಿತಂ| ತತ್ ವಿಮಾನಂ ವಿಚಿತ್ರಕೂಟಂ ಬಹುಕೂಟಮಂಡಿತಮ್ ಅಸ್ತಿ| ನಿರ್ಮಲಂ ಶರದ್ ಇನ್ದು ಇವ ಮನೋಭಿರಾಮಂ| ಗಿರೇ ಶಿಖರಂ ಯಥಾ ವಿಚಿತ್ರಕೂಟಂ (ಅಪಿ ಅಸ್ತಿ)|

That aerial car was specially designed in a unique manner. It had many wonderful decorated peaks. Like the autumnal full moon it was pleasing to the heart. Like a mountain peak it had wonderful towers.

ವಹಂತಿ ಯಂ ಕುಂಡಲಶೋಭಿತಾನನಾಃ ಮಹಾಶನಾ ವ್ಯೋಮಚರಾ ನಿಶಾಚರಾಃ |
ವಿವೃತ ವಿಧ್ವಸ್ತವಿಶಾಲಲೋಚನಾಃ ಮಹಾಜವಾ ಭೂತಗಣಾ ಸ್ಸಹಸ್ರಶಃ||6||

ಸ|| ಯಂ ( ವಿಮಾನಂ) ಸಹಸ್ರಃ ಕುಣ್ಡಲಶೋಭಿತಾನನಃ ಮಹಾಶನಾಃ ವ್ಯೋಮಚರಾಃ ನಿಶಾಚರಾಃ ವಿವೃತ ವಿಧ್ವಸ್ತ ವಿಶಾಲ ಲೋಚನಾಃ ಮಹಾಜವಾಃ ಭೂತಗಣಾಃ ವಹಂತಿ||

That aerial cars was borne by thousands of groups of Bhutas who have faces brightened by earrings, who are gluttons, who are ranging in the sky, who are night birds, who are with big rolling and frightening eyes as well as those who have tremendous speed.

ವಸಂತಪುಷ್ಕೋತ್ಕರಚಾರುದರ್ಶನಮ್ ವಸಂತಮಾಸಾದಪಿ ಕಾಂತ ದರ್ಶನಮ್|
ಸ ಪುಷ್ಪಕಂ ತತ್ರ ವಿಮಾನಮುತ್ತಮಮ್ ದದರ್ಶ ತದ್ವಾನರವೀರಸತ್ತಮಃ||7||

ಸ|| ತತ್ ವಾನರ ಸತ್ತಮಃ ತತ್ ಉತ್ತಮಂ ಪುಷ್ಪಕಂ ವಿಮಾನಂ ದದರ್ಶ | ವಸಂತಪುಷ್ಕೋತ್ತರಚಾರುದರ್ಶನಂ ತಂ ವಿಮಾನಂ ದದರ್ಶ| ವಸಂತ ಮಾಸಾದಪಿ ಕಾನ್ತ ದರ್ಶನಮ್ ತಂ ವಿಮಾನಂ ದದರ್ಶ|

That best of Vanaras saw the best of aerial cars namely Pushpaka. The aerial car was looking beautiful like a collection of blossoms of the spring. It was appearing more beautiful than the spring itself.

ಇತ್ಯಾರ್ಷೇ ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ರಾಮಾಯಣೇ ಆದಿಕಾವ್ಯೇ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕೀಯೇ
ಚತುರ್ವಿಂಶತ್ ಸಹಸ್ರಿಕಾಯಾಂ ಸಂಹಿತಾಯಾಮ್
ಶ್ರೀಮತ್ಸುಂದರಕಾಂಡೇ ಅಷ್ಟಮಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ||

Thus ends the eighth Sarga of Sundarakanda in Ramayana, the first ever poem of mankind composed by Maharshi Valmiki.||
